The U.S. Department of Energy is sponsoring the Wave Energy Prize, a 20-month design-test-build competition that has seeks to identify devices capable of doubling the energy captured from ocean waves. With a prize purse totaling more than $2 million, the Wave Energy Prize currently features more than 18 registered teams working towards the goal, with finalists having an opportunity to test their devices at the U.S Naval Surface Warfare Center’s Maneuvering and Seakeeping Basin at Carderock, Md.
