Hello,
It’s time for another Wave Energy Club event in just over three weeks!
9 February 2016 at 8 pm
The Golf Tavern, 30-31 Wrights Houses, Bruntsfield, Edinburgh, EH10 4HR (www.golftavern.co.uk)
Light buffet provided
Presentation by Conchúr Ó Brádaigh of The University of Edinburgh on “Alternative Structural Materials for Wave Energy Convertors”
“The structure of wave energy convertors (WECs) tends to be made of steel and other traditional materials, in many cases due to the prototype state that the industry is at. Alternative materials such as polymers, elastomers and composites can make a contribution towards reducing the projected LCOE of WECs, in particular when volume production of devices is considered. The presenter will give an overview of the status of these materials and technologies for WECs and of some work planned for the near future to develop the technologies further.”
We would like to thank Quoceant (www.quoceant.com) for sponsoring the event!
We are in the midst of working on our website, www.waveenergyclub.org, as well as an improve e-mail list, and we will keep you posted as those are implemented.
Spread the word! Please forward this e-mail within your organisation and to friends and colleagues who might be interested.
All the best,
Cameron McNatt
Wave Energy Club Convener
The Wave Energy Club is a new organisation intending to bring together those interested in ocean wave energy in an informal, accessible, and social setting. The purpose of the club is to share ideas and help build networks in the field of wave energy. We believe that creating a social club is the best way to build the strong relationships and trust needed for sharing ideas.
